Today I got to catch up with Johnson Kan, the owner of this 1994 Nissan Skyline GTR. It’s covered an impressively low 40,000miles in its 21 year life and is in exceptional condition for a car of that age. After a blast down the dual carriageway it also turns out it can certainly hold it’s own against most machines that the modern world throws at it. Where it does show its age is on the inside, you could describe the interior as ‘functional’, I mean, it provides you with a place to sit… and a MiniDisc player, no joke. However, all your interior woes are soon forgotten when you hear the sound of the twin turbochargers inhaling vast amounts of air into each of the 6 cylinders. It’s fast, Johnson quotes 350bhp and I can believe it. Johnson tells me that this car is undergoing some changes over the next few months, a journey that he has labelled ‘Project Tao’. We’ll catch up with periodically to see how things progress. In the meantime, admire the car.
